Napa Gamay (Valdigue) , Suisun Valley (Lanza Vineyards)
Brix 21 pH 3.3 TA 5.3 g/L
Valdiguie, as it also known, is the California answer to Gamay Noir. In fact, it was often labeled as such, but not the case.
While this grape is associated with Beaujolais style wines and has even been suggested as benefiting from carbonic maceration, a well made wine from this grape can be quite charming and unpretentious.
A winemaker can expect to yield an interestingly fruity wine that is typically low in tannins and soft for everyday drinking and accompaniment to many foods.
Aromas and Flavors for this wine might include: Raspberry, Strawberry, Cotton-candy, bubble gum. This wine should be very approachable from many different wine tastes.
